BMW MAKES YOU GOLF ON ICE

When it comes to winter sports people naturally thinks ski sex and sun but now with snow golf or winter golf activities they can say ski snow golf and fun .
Snow golf is born 10 years ago in the city of Megève (france) high spot of the french jet-seters thanks to  a pasionnated french golfer Philippe Guilhem who initiated the idea of the Megève Winter Cup.
This years BMW was the major sponsor of the event.

• THE EVENT

The  Winter Golf Cup took place from the 2nd to 12th february 2012. It was 11 days of event. 

The firt part of the event covered 2 days and was sponsored by prestigious partners such as vacheron Constantin, Edmond de Rotschild group and Rolls Roys motor cars France .

The Competition was spotted on the Golf course du Mont d'Arbois right next the Megève ski trails  which  transformed for the occasion the greens into whites. The field was prepared by Jean Luc Bizet operational director and golf intructor.

• THE PROGRAM

More than 500 golfers, beginners, amateurs or pro-am disputed the holes in a friendly competitive atmosphere:

1. The Snow Golf Kid: kids under sixteen could  taste the thrill of a competition in a 9 holes field made just for them.
2. The  Champions Trophy: a new challenge mixing ski and golf. As the name says sportsmen and athletes from any sport (rugby, foot, tennis, judo, basket) had to be acompanied by team and had for mission to succeed to be the bests at skiing and golfing!
3. The BMW Winter Golf Trophy: 40 teams of two golfer competed two days long . Rules were simples, 4 balls the best shots stay!
4. The Napapijr Winter golf championship: the competition was open to all amateur golfers, frenches and internationals.
5. Initiations: Non golfers, and watchers could try  snow golf  for free on the ice rink of Megève then went for the "real thing" on a golf field .

BMW appears as major sponsor of the winter golf cup, quite smart for the natural and official partner of the Megève resort . It already has strong implication in golf since the creation of the BMW golf trophy in 1988.

That kind of amateur event just make sens it attracts Vips, sport legends and sport champions of any category of sport, increase people awareness and relationship with  the international brand . It enable BMW to leverage  the patnersphip with the Megève ski resort.

To sum up The Winter golf cup isn't an off-course golf event nor a cross golf, but it is for amateur golfers an opportunity to play in a different playgroung with just the concern to have fun!
